Welcome to the album, Makeshift Memorials (Selections from The Secret Album.)

The songs in this collection have been laying dormant for nearly two decades. Written late in the summer of 1999, they were originally meant only for an audience of one. They were goodbye letters - nightly journal entries set to music - a final accounting of things I wanted to say to someone but knew I no longer should.

More than 30 songs were written in those few weeks and eventually compiled into what I called "The Secret Album." Rough recordings were made each night as the songs were written, using only my acoustic guitar, voice, and an old home-entertainment organ passed down from my grandfather. This limited palate of sounds created a very specific mood and sonic flavor that I tried to maintain here in the new recordings.

So, after 18 years, I have unearthed and dusted off 10 songs from "The Secret Album" to reimagine and release here in "Makeshift Memorials." I hope you enjoy them!
